The T-Shirt Profit Calculator is a free, browser-based tool designed to help apparel sellers calculate their real profit margin per unit — not just a rough estimate, but a number that accounts for every cost involved in getting a t-shirt from blank garment to customer's hands.
Most margin calculators ask for three numbers. This one asks for the right numbers. That means your print method and cost, your packaging, your shipping, your platform fee, your payment gateway fee, your marketing spend per unit, your monthly overhead, and your local tax rate — whether that is EU VAT, UK VAT, Canadian GST, Australian GST, or US state sales tax.
The result is a margin figure you can actually trust when you are pricing a product, launching a new design, or deciding whether a sales channel is worth the fee it charges.
Because every existing calculator we found was built by a platform to sell you their service. Printful's calculator assumes you use Printful. Printify's assumes you use Printify. They leave out gateway fees, they ignore marketing costs, and they treat overhead as someone else's problem.
The reality for most apparel sellers is that their actual margin is significantly lower than what a basic calculator shows — once you factor in Stripe's 2.9% plus the fixed transaction fee, your Facebook ad spend, your Shopify subscription, and the cost of the poly mailers you forgot to count.
This tool puts all of that in one place, so you can see the full picture before you set a price — not after you have already made a hundred sales at a loss.
All calculations happen entirely in your browser. No data is collected, stored, or transmitted. You can use this tool without an account, without signing up, and without giving us your email address.
The calculator is as accurate as the numbers you put in. It uses straightforward margin mathematics — revenue minus costs, divided by revenue — with no black-box assumptions. Platform fees are pre-filled based on published rates for Shopify, Etsy, and Amazon Merch, but you can override any value. Tax rates are pre-filled for common countries but are intended as a starting point, not tax advice.
